1. Compare and contrast the basic tenets of the Health Belief Model, the Theory of Reasoned Action and the Theory of Planned Behavior, Self Efficacy and Social Cognitive Theory, and the Health Promotion Model.
2. How might you use one or more of these models/theories to help patients to effect change in the effort to promote health? Provide specific examples relative to your practice.
3. Discuss social support and the role it plays in health promotion and health maintenance. Include the role of social networking sites (i.e., Facebook, Twitter and other messaging sites). How do these platforms contribute to providing support for patients?

The best outside scholarly source to use is a peer-reviewed nursing journal. You are encouraged to use the UNA library and search one of the available databases for a peer-reviewed journal article. The following sources should not be used: Wikipedia, Wikis, or blogs. These websites are not considered scholarly as anyone can add to these. Current outside scholarly sources must be published within the last 5 years. Instructor permission must be obtained BEFORE the assignment is due if using a source that is older than 5 years.
