On Dec. 10, 1948 The Universal Declaration of Human Rights was adopted by the General Assembly of the United Nations. This was the first time that countries agreed on a comprehensive statement of inalienable human rights.
In 1945 the United Nations was formed to increase political and economic cooperation among member countries. The organization works on economic and social development programs, improving human rights and reducing global conflicts.
