SMART Goals By the end of the first week you need to post your SMART Goals and how you will determine if you were successful in meeting them. They must include the knowledge gained through reading, the knowledge gained through lectures, your goals in understanding research and how it will impact your role as a nurse, and your goals in writing and understanding the research process. You can add other items that are of interest to you. A SMART Goal form is provided below. You may not use “a passing grade” as a criterion for success and being on time should absolutely not be a goal as it is a requirement. Your objectives must be SMART: specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, and timely. At the end of the semester, I will ask you to do a self-evaluation.
When you create your SMART goals you are creating your own rubric for your self-evaluation at the end of the semester. It is your way of committing to a level of performance. You will need to justify that performance at the end of the semester. It will not be enough to say I did it. You will need to show me.
