Write a paper explaining several related major concepts in cognitive psychology and how these concepts relate to their own lives. Students will be asked to explicitly discuss the mechanisms underlying the chosen phenomena and explain how a particular experience in their own lives embodies the course concepts. The purpose of this project is to have students (1) articulate the ways in which cognition underlies their everyday
experiences and (2) practice communicating these to a broad audience.
Instructions:
Regardless of which form you take for the assignment (podcast, video, or paper), you must complete all
the following.
• Choose TWO terms from the file “Final Project Terms” (Canvas > Modules > Final Project).
o Your two chosen terms must come from two DIFFERENT categories (e.g., You can’t choose
two terms in Category B).
o You must choose numbered terms (e.g., You cannot choose “Perception” as a term).
• Define both selected terms.
• Choose and describe ONE personal experience that can be explained using BOTH selected terms.
(e.g., You can’t choose one experience for your first term, and another experience for your second
term). This experience must be one that you have experienced yourself.
o Your description of the experience must be detailed enough so that I can understand how
your chosen terms are relevant to the story.
• Explain how your personal experience relates to your two selected terms.
• Your primary objective is to try to educate a fellow peer (non-psychology major) about your
chosen course terms, using your personal experience as an example of the phenomena.
Additional Guidelines:
• Use your textbook, notes, the pre-recorded lectures, Zoom class recordings, and accompanying
slides as your foundation for explaining relevant course terms.

o However, keep in mind that taking exact wording from course slides, the textbook, or any
webpage etc. is considered plagiarism.
• Using outside sources (websites, other published papers in journals) is not necessary and is in
fact, discouraged.
o You are welcome to use images from the web if you choose to do a video. See below for
