Interaction Between Nurse Informaticists and Other Specialists
The healthcare system is one industry that requires collaboration among healthcare providers to achieve the desired objectives. Healthcare organizations support patient data analysis and identify trends and correlations that enable clinical decision-making. Interaction among interdisciplinary teams in the healthcare industries ensures the achievement of hospital objectives hence meeting patient needs and wants.
Nurse informaticist forms an essential role in the healthcare system following the increasing amount of healthcare technology and increasing complexity of EHRs (Mcgonigle & Mastrian, 2022). Interaction between nurse informaticists or data or technological specialists with other professionals within the healthcare organization is essential to achieving patient outcomes and quality improvement initiatives. Nurse informaticists enable clinical staff to interact easily with various technology in the healthcare system. Nurse informaticists utilize clinicians’ data, analyze them, and develop appropriate recommendations for improving patient outcomes. Moreover, nurse informaticists in the organization are involved in policy making and advocate for issues affecting patients and the community (Kwiatkoski, 2021).
In my healthcare organization, nurse informaticists facilitate communication between the information technology (IT) and clinical staff. Secondly, nurse informaticists interact with clinical staff by watching how they utilize the technology and identifying the problems they may face (Kwiatkoski, 2021). The interaction enables them to develop an appropriate solution to the problems the healthcare team may be experiencing during their service delivery. Finally, through their skills, they analyze various health issues and determine the best practices to address them, hence being involved in policy making.
The strategy of Improving the Interaction
One strategy for improving the interaction between informatics and other specialist is providing education to all healthcare providers in the healthcare system about the nurse informaticist. (Mcgonigle & Mastrian, 2022). The hospital must explain and provide education on what nurse informaticists perform. For example, new hires had to be trained in the hospital database at my hospital. This education would inform healthcare providers on how to interact with nurse informaticists. When healthcare providers are informed of the significance of nurse informaticists, they will more likely interact with them effectively.
Impact of Continued Evolution of Nursing Informatics on Professional Interaction
Professional interaction is significantly impacted by the continuous evolution of nursing informatics as a specialty. In my clinical setting, it is crucial to access a database where all team members can view patients’ information such as treatment, new goals, patient progress, and discharge details. It allows the team to communicate up-to-date information, including those in outpatient services.
I find informatics very important because it helps me report any change in the condition of our patients. one time, I noticed unusual behavior about a patient. I was able to read up his medical record and lab value and discovered his Lithium level was high. I notified the doctor about his lithium toxicity, and the clinical team immediately devised an action plan for the patient. This example proves that a Nurse Informaticist Specialist must effectively integrate health information technologies into the healthcare system (Ehrenstein et al., 2019). The effective integration of health information technology eliminates the manual transmission of healthcare data. Electronic data transmission in the healthcare system allows for effective interactions of healthcare providers in hospitals. Healthcare professionals can communicate with other healthcare providers in hospitals without necessitating physical meetings. Through health information technology, healthcare providers have timely communication. In the healthcare system, effective and timely communication improves the quality of services offered.

Technology continues to proceed at an accelerated pace, necessitating proficient user knowledge for adaptation and for remaining acquainted with prevalent innovative practices. Healthcare is a capricious practice, continuously evolving as novel technology and comprehensive understanding of disease processes intersect and allow for ultramodern treatment of patients. Health care workers may face challenges related to the speed and complexity of new technologies. Nurses depend on data and messaging from peers, providers, and patient monitoring equipment for successful patient care and intervention (McGonigle & Mastrian, 2022). Nurse informaticists and technology specialists can bridge the gap between progressive practices and a rudimentary labor pool.
Experiences with the interactions of technology specialists and nursing staff
Nurse informaticists are primarily nurses within my organization. They are overwhelmingly nurse leaders and work as charge nurses, assistant nurse managers, and committee team leads. They are called âsuper usersâ and assist bedside nurses and support staff with training and education related to new technology, changing processes, and ensuring staff is current with organizational, state, and federally regulated standards. These nurse informaticists largely act as project managers which is the consummate element of informaticist proficiency (Sipes, 2016). Technology specialists, such as sonographers, frequently interact with nursing staff, providing invaluable data which can determine critical care components that can directly affect patient outcomes. Many cardiac support medication decisions are dependent on a patientâs ejection fraction, and patient diagnosis and care plans will be altered based on myocardial wall kinesis measurements. Critical care technology specialists are aware of the importance of shared patient care roles, and they partner with critical care nurses by employing a dependable, professional, and articulate approach that ensures best patient practices.
Possible Improvement strategies for interactions between informaticists and nursing staff
The best possible strategy to improve interactions between my organizationâs nurse informaticists and the nursing staff would be to have nurses who have a focused role as a nurse informaticist, rather than the multi-faceted and often stretched responsibilities they currently hold as both patient caregivers and unit informaticists. Technology information affects the fecundity, capacity, action, validity, expenditure, and quality of patient care conditional to rigorous collection and application (Mosier, Roberts, & Englebright, 2019). The employment of dedicated nurse informaticists would likely result in standardized instruction methods and dependable availability of assistance when needed.
The impact of advancing technologies on professional interactions
As technology marches forward, the need for adept, comprehensive interactions between informaticists, technologists, and patient caregivers will become even more vital for safe and effective patient care outcomes. Nurses will persist in holding a meaningful function in the augmentation and advancement of healthcare technologies (mHealth), encompassing the formation of policy and use regulations (Alexander, Ng, & Frith, 2018). A refined collaboration amid caregivers, or care teams, will assimilate data specialists among nurses, therapists, pharmacists, providers, patients, and family members. Each stakeholder will have an intersecting relationship with one another and will pursue a collective goal of ensuring inclusive patient care.
