You will create a short video (4-8 minutes) or video presentation that informs people about a social challenge and presents the viewer with an opinion on what the possible outcome(s) of the challenge is, a course of action or a good question to think about. You will also share one awesome resource where viewers can go to learn more about the social challenge you’re talking about (not Wikipedia).
Instructions:
Choose a social challenge you are interested in learning more about. Stuck on ideas? Look at the topics we’re discussing in class or other current issues in the news.
Research your topic:
Get informed –what is it about? Why is it s social challenge (affecting all of society)? What news or research has been done on this challenge?
Use at least 3 resources when researching your social challenge
Identify the key points –Summarize the issue in 3-5 key points or ideas.
Organize your information so you can write a script for your video
Write your video/presentation script: what are you going to say and how? Will the video be informational? Funny? Serious? Writing a good script works like writing an essay –plan, write, edit and edit again. Be sure to follow these steps in writing your script:
State the challenge (or potential challenge, such as the singularity)
Provide some information about the social challenge
State your opinion on what the possible outcome(s) are of the social challenge –what could happen as a result of the challenge?
State a course of action to help society get through the challenge or a good thinking question about the challenge. (Ex. if we were talking about the singularity, a good question might be “at what point do we stop being humans and start being machines?)
Include one awesome place people can go to learn more about your topic.
