This course helped me focus my learning on the importance and value of the DNP nurse. The DNP education program teaches evidence-based practice, quality improvement, and systems leadership (AACN, n.d.). In this course, my understanding increased of the importance of promoting quality and safety and the steps and process of achieving grant funding. The process of grant funding requires multiple steps, by understanding and following these steps helps with submitting successful grant applications (NIH, 2017). This course broke down the steps involved and aided in my competence moving forward in knowing I can write a successful grant proposal.
Considering this new knowledge, examine how this learning prepares you to practice as a DNP-prepared APN leader.
DNP-prepared nurses are important executive leaders who have a demand for value-based healthcare (Root, et al., 2018). This class helped me home in on the abilities required to be a competent and successful DNP nurse. I know that the knowledge I learned over the last eight weeks will be valuable information for me going forward. I have a better understanding of what is necessary for a successful grant proposal and know that the information I learned in this course will be beneficial to me in the future.
