Use sf chronicle style The aim of this exercise is to stake a clear position in a contemporary state/local health policy debate and give compelling reasons and/or evidence for the audience to agree with the student. Students will consult the “Op-Ed” section of their hometown or favorite local newspaper to learn the rules for submission and the style of writing that is most appropriate for an op-ed. Most newspapers restrict op-ed submissions to 750-1000 total words. This assignment Op-Ed or Commentary as an opportunity to add and develop the student’s voice to a broader conversation about a topic, which for this class, must be related to a state/local health policy.
