Chapter 14 of the Wilensky text presents the framework that you will use to structure your policy analysis brief for the Module 10 written assignment that serves as the course final. This final is worth 100 points. You will be allowed one attempt for its submission.
The policy topic for your brief was previously submitted and approved by the instructor in Module 5. You must develop your analysis brief on this approved policy issue.
Scenario: Policymakers have engaged your services as an experienced healthcare professional to serve as a policy analyst to help them better understand the full range of issues associated with the problem, explore potential policy options to effectively address it and make a single recommendation for how they should proceed.
Your brief must include ALL “essential elements” of a policy analysis that are outlined in Chapter 14 of the Wilensky text. Each of these sections should be labeled with the pertinent policy brief information below each section. These include:
Problem Identification Section- objectively defines the problem with the inclusion of current data to substantiate it.
Background Section- includes factual information to demonstrates the significance of the issue.
Landscape Section- identifies key stakeholders and various factors that compose the context in which the problem should be considered.
Options Section- includes 3 to 5 policy alternative/solution options that could be considered to address the issue, along with an evaluation of each.
Recommendation Section- Includes one (1) option from the options section that you recommend to policymakers for further action. This captures the rationale for the recommendation and ways to mitigate any unintended consequences that may be associated with it.
