DP#1:An understanding of a cost containment system is very important because this system is utilized to maintain a low overhead. Meaning maintaining unnecessary spending. Maintaining an understanding of the amount and type of costs coming into a facility/practice, as well as the costs that are going out helps for the facility to run smooth and as streamline as possible. There are many things a provider/facility can do to keep costs at a minimum. Monitoring service charges and debts associated with rendered care and the cost of the care is once option. Another option is to monitor the monthly and yearly budget and place budget caps based upon previous year’s spending and trending costs. Lastly, looking into upgrading/updating software that is being utilized with the facility/practice to help keep the inner workings running smoothly and at a lower cost from previous years.

DP#2:Hello all!
If we take the time to understand what cost containment is then we could be more prepared to use it to help improve the quality in our healthcare organizations. For example, “Cost containment is an important set of strategies and tools to reduce benefits costs for your organization and employeesâregardless of your organization’s size and health insurance plan funding type” (Ashley, 2020). By reducing our benefit costs, we can ensure that our facility is able to control the current costs of the facility as well as future costs, which would help with quality improvement of the facility.
