Summary:
This article takes a look at the implementation of telehealth in health care. The articles talks about how by using telemedicine caregivers in different regions can cover the night shift from a remote location and be alert, focused, and energized for the ICU patients that come in. According to this article telehealth generally seems to improve access to health care. With technology that we now have today liek edge computing and 5G wireless networks telemedicine will be able to show high-res documents like MRI scans. My thoughts: This is the first article we’ve been assignned that didn’t turn my stomach with how dissapointing politicians, medical professionals, and insurance companies have been in focusing on the health of their peers. This article makes me happy in that it talks about a viable solution to some problems faced like understaffing, exhaustion, and transportation. I think telemedicine is revolutionary for medicine and often when I have dr appts we are able to do them through zoom. I think that the change that this article discusses has been sped up by covid. Almost everything that we do remotely has been optomized for the times so I’m excitied to see what some of the more advanced implementations of telemedicine look like in action.
