Week 7 Assignment: Analyze Parenting Styles
Instructions
This week, your assignment has two parts. You will
combine both parts and submit your assignment in the same document.
Part 1:
Research and provide a review of Diana Baumrind’s
parenting styles. Based on what you have learned about Baumrind’s parenting
styles, prepare a worksheet for parents. This is a worksheet that they will be
able to use to monitor and better understand their own parenting styles.
On the first page, identify and briefly describe each parenting style. On the
second page, provide a chart for the parents to use to monitor their own
parenting styles. On one side of the chart offer space for the parent to briefly
describe an event that happened between themselves and one of the children, and
on the left hand offer an area for them to check off which type of parenting is
reflected.
Prepare one example for them and allow space on the
handout for them to add their daily parenting experiences.
Length: 2-3 pages
Part 2:
Present an annotated outline for your Signature
Assignment, which is due next week. (Hint: Use the required points
in the Signature Assignment [see Week 8] as the main topics in the outline.
Include subtopics as appropriate to your specific research project.) In the
outline, include citations for each of the topics and subtopics. You should
have at least five citations. Clearly mark sections in the outline where you
need to do more research to find support for the paper, so that you can be sure
to find those resources as you prepare your final paper.
Length: 3-4 pages
References: Include a minimum of five scholarly resources
Your paper should demonstrate thoughtful consideration of
the ideas and concepts presented in the course by providing new thoughts and
insights relating directly to this topic.
