In the spirit of topics we’ve discussed this short semester, we have come to understand complex dynamics between groups that are influenced by individual differences (culture, gender, in-group versus out-group differences). We have also experienced a lot of socio-political change in the last several years, and even within recent days (i.e. overturning of roe v wade). The country is more divided than it has ever been in political and social ideologies.
Imagine that you were faced with an individual who vehemently disagreed with you on a major topic of interest to you. How would you find commonality with this individual? How would you discuss these difficult topics? Are there any tactics that you’ve learned about that would help you to have a these conversations? What would you want this individual to understand about you and your opposing views?
