Select a current research article within the last 10 years in TCS Library Database on one behavioral addiction that is mediated by particular neurotransmitters (e.g., dopamine). That addiction can be one involving compulsive gambling, internet usage, video gaming, sex, or eating. Only choose one of those addictions.
Please note: Your addiction should not be a drug-related one.

Put in your keywords (e.g., “dopamine and gambling addiction”), and then check off the article, full text and peer-reviewed options to search for your relevant article. Be sure to use the date filter to ensure your article is a current one.
After finding your relevant article, you will compose a 3- to 4-page paper in APA format (excluding the Title and References pages) that addresses the following issues:
Provide a pdf to the full text article and describe in sufficient detail the addiction along with how it was researched in the methodological design. Make sure the article is a quantitative one: it should have the appropriate Literature Review, Methods, Results, and Discussion sections. These sections should be clearly labeled in your article.
Does the article support (or not support) the dopaminergic reward pathway model that has been identified in drug addictions? Explain the findings that were obtained in the article. If another neurotransmitter was involved with the disorder, be sure to provide that information as well.
Finally, note some of the shortcomings of your research article as well as what potential next steps can be undertaken research-wise with your chosen addiction.
This assignment will enable you to not only identify the underlying physiological mechanisms to behavioral addictions, but to also correlate those mechanisms with ones governing drug addictions.
