Everyone experiences challenges and sometimes those challenges decrease our level of motivation and interfere in our ability to complete tasks or reach our goals. In a 4-week course that moves quickly, students must remain motivated until the end. Therefore, the goal of this DB is to create a short motivational speech to your classmates (or a friend) encouraging them to continue in the course.
What would you say to a classmate who did not want to continue in a psychology course at the halfway mark? How would you convince them to stay in the course? Remember, this speech can determine their future in the course. Be detailed in your speech (use examples from your own life) and most of all be sincere. Do not copy and paste motivational quotes. The words of encouragement (your speech) should be created from the heart, in your own words. Try to avoid cliché’ statements and instead, motivate from a place of sincerity.
There are 3 parts to this discussion board. Please address each part of the prompt thoroughly to avoid losing points. Respond in bullet format.
The first part of your post must be at least 1.5 paragraphs in length with 6-8 sentences in each paragraph. Please provide well-thought-out sentences. Make sure your motivating comments are sincere. Think: If someone said this to me it would motivate me to continue. The beginning of your motivational speech might begin like this: Jane, you have come this far and have been able to successfully complete your coursework. Schoolwork can be challenging, but you are working towards a degree to better your financial situation. You cannot give up because your children are counting on you and you are their role model. If you would like to study together, we can make plans to meet once a week until the course is over. I am going to do the best I can to finish this course with a passing grade. I can do it and so can you. This part of your post must be at least 1.5 paragraphs in length with 6-8 sentences in each paragraph.
In one or two sentences, tell me what this means to you: It is those who choose to rise above their circumstances and seek resolutions, that experience triumph.
Which Theory of Motivation (below) was the most interesting? (Provide a real-life example of this theory that is not from the book. This part of your post should be no less than 3-4 sentences.)
Choose from Instinct Theory, Drive-Reduction Theory, Arousal Theory, or Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs
