As the text notes, conflict is everywhere. We will all be placed in situations, in our personal lives, in classes, and at work, when we will be either a part of a conflict, or witness to conflict. We can choose our responses – and we can communicate in positive ways in order to defuse or de-escalate a conflict.
As our text discusses, a mediator is a person who intervenes between individuals who are experiencing conflict. There are professional mediators who do this for a living, but this can also be implemented by any one of us by utilizing some of the negotiation tactics discussed in our text.

In your discussion forum this final week you will include the following:
After watching the video above (20 minutes), share what you learned about conflict growing up. Share only as much as you are comfortable with.
Next, find a video (YouTube, TED Talks, etc) online that discusses an approach to conflict management that resonates for you in some way.
Provide the URL to the video in your post, or better yet, embed it in your post!
Write a brief (4 – 5 sentences) summary of the message the video shares about conflict management or mediation;
Tell us how you might be able to apply this perspective, message, or approach to a conflicted situation in your own life (work, school, personal).
Finally, you will interact with your classmates regarding this discussion question. Possible directions for follow up posts may include:
What have you learned that you did not know before your participation in this discussion?
What benefit(s) do you gain from this knowledge?
How will you use this knowledge in the real world, particularly in a work setting?
Your main post should be at least 250-300 words long.
