Final Project
The project will give you the opportunity to describe how you would engage children in positive experiences to foster their developmental potential. First, select an aspect of development. Then describe a specific a plan to help children reach their developmental potential.
What is an aspect of development? (These are examples, feel free to pick your own)
Cognitive development is too broad but perspective-taking is a good aspect of development
Physical development is too broad but developing life-long exercise habits is more manageable
Please ask for feedback on your aspect before you get started forming a plan.
The final product will be a 5-10 page paper covering the following aspects:
Criteria for assessment
Introduction: Identification of aspect of development
Description of the challenges associated with the aspect of development
-Describe the aspect of development and what changes occur during childhood
-How do the stakeholders identified in this course affect the challenge?
(parents, peers, schools, other individuals and intuitions).
-Are these challenges faced by all children or are they focused on specific
populations or circumstances?
-Ideas should reference relevant content from our course
Recommendation for supporting development
-What specific activities will you incorporate to support development?
(Be detailed. What will the kids do?)
-What obstacles might you encounter and how will they be overcome?
-How will you assess the success of each activity?
-How does developing this aspect affect other developments?
