Each time you have completed a case study, submit your reflection. Each reflection should include the following:
A comparison of what you have learned from the case study to related theories you have studied. Make sure to cite these theories in APA format.
A comparison of the case study to your nursing practice, giving one or two examples from your nursing experience in which you might have applied a particular theory covered.
Your reflection should be a minimum of five to six paragraphs.
I added a link to the case study above. not sure if it works so here’s a summary***In the case study there is a patient who needs diabetic teaching who lives in an apartment with his wife. He had a daughter pass away, leaving himself and his wife to care for their grandchild. they are both elderly. Patient is sad and stressed and uninterested in learning to manange and care for his diabetes. The models used by the nurse in the case study is the Dorothea Orem and Betty Newman models. I hav eused the Dorothea Orem model personally myself at work as a nurse because I agree that this theory is vital to a patients success in healthcare. Self-care is very important and has a strong say in how the patients health will result. I have applied this with an young patient who had an emergency c-section due to covid and almost lost her life. She was reluctant to focus on self care due to the worry fo rher child she was never able to hold. Another example would be with a patient who was with an obese patient who refused care and therapy because she wanted to leave the facility and get back to her grandson who was being cared for by her husband. She needed to fulfill her self care in order to faclititate being able to care for someone else safely.
