It is a chance to not only network professionally, but also to discover what nurse leaders actually do and expect of those that report to them related to financial management and accountability.
Ask the following questions:
Do you utilize major financial reports such as Statements of Financial
Position and Operations or Cash Flow? If so, how?
What is your involvement with the budgeting process?
How much time do you spend on the budget per week?
How tightly are you held to the budget?
What is the process for variance reporting at your organization?
Is adherence to the budget tied to your performance appraisal? Explain.
Do you mentor those that report to you on financial accountability? What do you expect of them?
What is your most challenging aspect of dealing with the budget? Rewarding?
