Health Challenges Project (15%)
Students will develop a detailed overview of their selected health challenge concept, within the context of delivering the information a target population: registered nurses. Based on the student’s learning style, the method of presentation of material is variable and not prescribed. Some examples of presentation format include (but are not limited to): a) education video for registered nurses, b) education pamphlet for registered nurses, c) comprehensive case study, d) Prezi, e) PowerPoint f) detailed ‘concept map’, or g) detailed ‘mind map’. Regardless of presentation method, information provided must be: succinct, audience-appropriate, evidence-based, including properly formatted in-text citations, references, and following proper APA format. (Important: review the APA 7th edition manual for formatting guidelines for the content being presented, such as bulleted lists, paragraphs, tables, images, etc.). Select and incorporate information from a variety of credible, current (last 3-5 years), and relevant evidence-informed nursing resources (e.g., peer-reviewed nursing journal articles from library databases; required course textbooks; best practice guidelines; practice standards and guidelines; etc.). Avoid using non-scholarly resources such as non-peer-reviewed or non-validated resources, books, or websites which include, but are not limited to WebMD, NurseLabs, RNpedia, Healthline, or Wikipedia.
Once completed, projects will be posted by students on Blackboard in a designated area, where your classmates can view and learn from your submission. Discussion about the topic, questions, or comments are expected to be moderated by the submitting student. Engagement within the project discussion boards is encouraged and is supportive of the online learning community. Please include in your project:
a) Pathophysiology
b) Incidence, Occurrence
c) Signs and Symptoms (Include pain and how it is managed)
d) Diagnostic tests, Procedures
e) Complications that may arise
f) Pharmacology g) Client and family teaching
h) Nursing diagnoses, interventions, or implications relating to the list above
i) Priority nursing assessments
Use of proper APA 7th edition formatting and referencing is expected. In addition, and specific to this project, students are required to include a page or paragraph number for each citation for purpose of ease of referencing for their peers, should they wish to learn more about the topic presented and to easily locate the information you cited. *** Remember, APA 7th edition format requires page numbers mainly for direct quotations – the use of page numbers for ALL citations (not only quotes) for this project is an exception for the purpose of knowledge sharing for this assignment.
