I would like you to take part in two new cross-cultural experiences. For example, you could: attend a religious service different from your own, interview someone from a different country, go to a restaurant that specializes in cuisine from a different culture (or even cook a unique dish at home that you have not previously tried), join a friend for a cultural tradition/custom, visit a museum focused on a culture different from your own. These are just a few options; feel free to engage in any culture-relevant experience that is new to you! Feel free to check with me if you are unsure about whether an experience/event is appropriate for the assignment.
This must be an experience that you choose for the purpose of this course. You may not use a previous experience. This is assignment will be due near the end of the course, but plan accordingly to give yourself time to make this a meaningful experience.
For each experience, write a two-page paper describing
what you did
what you observed
what your feelings were about the experience
Be sure to incorporate relevant concepts from the course as you describe the cultural experience!
Assignment Details:
12-point Times New Roman or similar font, with 1-inch margins on all sides
Double-spaced
Two full pages (not to exceed 2 ½ pages)
Submit as a Word document under Assignments (link can be found by clicking on Assignments in the left menu)
No title page; put your name and Cross-Cultural Experiences as your header
