Create a video recording where you are the therapist
with a new patient. Your patient can be a friend, family, co-worker, classmate.
Do NOT use a patient from clinical.
Your patient is a 31-year-old male with alcohol abuse.
He currently drinks a 6 pack of beer plus 7 shots of vodka per day. He is
coming to you after his 2nd DUI through mental health court. The
patient denies having a problem with alcohol and uses it to cope with his
stressful job, he works in advertising and reports that “drinking is part of
our culture, we take clients out and it loosens us all up”.
This short video (5-10 minutes) will be an appointment
for motivational interviewing. In your own words (with help from scholarly
references) explain the MI Spirit and the four components of the MI spirit. Be
sure to utilize OARS communication with your patient and start the process of
engaging, focusing, evoking, and planning.
This is a very condensed MI session. Be sure to
include any references utilized in APA 7th edition format along
with your video.

Zoom can be used to record even without another person on another screen.
