Purpose of Assignment: The purpose of this assignment is two-fold. First, it is important that we build the muscle to evaluate peer-reviewed literature, analyze it, and translate it into insights that we can use for our own growth. Next, it is crucial that we are able to express our insights in a concise written manner using the literature in making a logical argument to agree or disagree with the findings. As we continue our journey as graduate scholar-practitioners we should become comfortable with research, since the completion of graduate studies marks a significant milestone in our academic career. Instructions: Learners in this course should approach the Article Critiques as follows – Choose one (1) of the attached articles Read the article for an understanding of the main idea or conclusion.
Read the article a second time with a more critical eye seeking to understand the following
Are the chosen research methods appropriate to answer the research question(s)?
Are the results/findings generalizable to groups other than those in the study?
Is there evidence of bias or a conflict of interest from the author(s)?
Is the article timely and relevant to today’s context?
Did the author/s base their research on theory and previous literature?
