Write a 2–3 page expository paper (minimum of 1000 words) discussing the following points relating to the case study patient you selected:
Include a definition of the actual disease or condition.
The signs and symptoms of the disease.
Identify the factors that could have caused or lead to the particular disease or condition (Pathogenesis).
Describe body system changes as a result of the disease process.
Discuss the economic impact of the chronic disease.

Essay should be a minimum of 1000 words.
The paper you submit must be your own work.
The viewpoint and purpose of this assignment should be clearly established and sustained.
Assignment should follow the conventions of Standard American English (correct grammar, punctuation, etc.).
Your writing should be well ordered, logical, and unified, as well as original and insightful.
Your work should display superior content, organization, style, and mechanics.
Follow APA style format, including Times New Roman 12 point font and double spacing.

Case Study #1: Coronary Artery Disease (CAD)
Eric is a 47-year-old male who has just been diagnosed with coronary artery disease (CAD). He is a construction worker and spends a great deal of time away from his wife and three children. Eric smokes approximately 1 1⁄2 packs of cigarettes a day and enjoys drinking a 6-pack of beer after a long day at work.
Case Study #2: Diabetes
Hannah is a 10-year-old girl who has recently been diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes mellitus. She is a 4th grade student at Hendricks Elementary School. Prior to her diagnosis, Hannah was very involved in sports and played on the girls’ volleyball team. Her mother is concerned about how the diagnosis will affect Hannah.
Case Study #3: Hypertension (HTN)
Vicki is a 42-year-old African American woman who was diagnosed with hypertension a month ago. She has been married to her high school sweetheart for the past 20 years. She is self-employed and runs a successful insurance agency. Her work requires frequent travel and Vicki often has to eat at fast food restaurants for most of her meals.
Case Study #4: Osteoporosis
Ivy, a 60-year-old Asian woman sustains an ankle fracture from a fall in a shopping mall. After the surgery, Ivy goes to an orthopedic surgeon for follow up, who does an initial history and physical checkup. Ivy has an active life. She walks every day about two miles and stays busy with household work. She has habits of drinking a few cups of coffee and moderate amount of wine, and also, smoking. About two years ago she was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis.
Case Study #5: Asthma
Tammy is a 17-year-old girl who was just diagnosed with asthma. She is a cheerleader for her high school and is very busy with social events throughout the year. Next year Tammy will attend View University on a cheerleading scholarship. She is very excited, but is a little nervous about living away from home. Lately she has been having trouble controlling her asthma.
Case Study #6: Cerebrovascular Accident (CVA)
Jan is a 72-year-old woman who recently suffered a cerebral vascular accident (CVA). She suffered damage to the right side of her body and is having difficulty speaking. She is widowed and has no children. She lives by herself in a 2nd floor apartment. Jan is worried about how she will care for her 3 cats: Daisy, Tempo, and Ms. Kitty.

Case Study #7: Alzheimer’s Disease
Joanna, a 65-year-old woman, and James, a 68-year-old man, are a happily married couple who run a small business. James started noticing that his wife has trouble handling money and paying bills. She keeps forgetting dates. She forgets recently-learned information like the name of their newborn granddaughter. Joanna looks worried and anxious for no good reason. With the advice of their primary care doctor, James took her wife to a neurologist. The doctor conducts tests to assess Joanna’s memory impairment and other thinking skills. After initial assessment of her memory problem, he ordered a few lab tests and brain-imaging test. Results helped rule out other causes, such as hemorrhages, brain tumors or strokes and indicated Joanna might have early stage of Alzheimer’s disease.
