Instructions for this Assignment
Purpose:
Develop a scholarly evidence base to support your Community Teaching Project by synthesizing relevant literature. Analyze contemporary evidence-based practice issues and problems through the community assessment process of vulnerable groups, families and communities/populations. A literature synthesis combines key information from different sources (minimum of four) to form an integrated summary.
Tasks(s):
Perform a literature review.
Go to the home course and select “Free Tutoring”
Select Embedded Librarian to take you to the eCampus Librarian Support and Services C
Scroll down and find Galileo Search and put in Key Words of your topic to help find articles to support your health promotion teaching project.
Using the search terms (keywords) you developed to learn more about your project, Select at least 4 peer-reviewed journal articles relevant to your project. In addition (optional), You may include other supportive information from sources such as professional websites, trade publications, or other mainstream publications. As you read your sources, take note of key ideas, including any conflicts or contradictions.
Literature Synthesis – Once you have read your articles you can begin writing your literature synthesis by organizing your ideas into three sections: Title page, Introduction, Body, Conclusion, and Reference Page
Introduction: Presents your topic
Provide some background on your topic
Body: Summarize a literature search on your topic integrating the main ideas related to your topic
Organize the evidence from your readings into an informative explanation of the literature.
List health promotion and prevention strategies found in the literature search.
Identify resources and interventions for the health promotion topic found in the literature search.
Identify evidence-based recommendations related to evidence-based community project found in the research.
Looks for ways to deliver individualized and holistic care to families and communities/population-based programs on your topic.
Conclusion: Makes a final summary of your main ideas
Provide a clear connection back to your topic as stated in the
introduction
List and cite all four references (list in APA format your 4 articles and any other material used in your literature search Ex webpage of an organization)
Literature Synthesis Dos and Don’ts:
Do write your Literature Synthesis in the third person (write as if you are the narrator; e.g. he, she, it, they).
Do keep quoted material to a minimum if at all; we encourage you to paraphrase key ideas from your sources into your own words and use in-text citations. If you do quote, make sure to cite (Author, year, and page number).
Don’t just summarize each of your sources into one paragraph for each article, integrate the material. This is a common error often students fall into when writing a synthesis. Remember: a synthesis combines key ideas from several sources into your own explanation of what the literature.

Length: Minimum 500 words (not including references). Remember to format this assignment in accordance with the latest edition of APA. Your paper should be double-spaced and include a centered title. Any sources used should be properly cited in APA format.
