Mark is 28 years old and is diagnosed with Down Syndrome. He resides in a group home. His support staff report that he has a difficult time in the morning. More specifically, when asked to complete his morning routine he swears, and throws items. When he does this, his staff support will walk away. Mark will also slap the table, the chairs and the walls when his staff are in the kitchen. He stops when staff will provide him something to eat or drink. Based on your assessment he engages in swearing/throwing items to escape the task/instructions and slaps tables/chairs/walls to get access to something to eat.
