Childbirth Preparation: Education
 Identify the basic philosophy, concepts and rationale for childbirth preparation.
 Differentiate between several methods of childbirth preparation.
 Discuss the rationale for labor conditioning and practice.
 Relate the value of childbirth education to a couple’s sense of control as they approach birth.
 Explain the role of the nurse in supporting the couple’s chosen method.
 Demonstrate and practice the various breathing and relaxation techniques helpful at each phase and stage of labor.
