Personality Assessment in Media (PAM) Project
The purpose of this PAM project is to help you learn to apply your newly acquired understanding of personality theory in real-world situations. It is designed to simulate the same type of decision-making processes clinicians use every day when trying to infer things about a client’s personality by carefully observing their behavior and thought patterns in session.
Here’s how the PAM project works:
Step 1: Pick a character from a movie or television show whose personality you would like to do an analysis of using one of the theories covered in this class. List the character, the movie/show they are found in, and the theory you are going to be describing their personality with.
Step 2: Very briefly, describe how this theory of personality works.
Step 3: Describe at least 3 ways that this theory explains the character’s behaviors/thoughts during the movie/show and how these might allude to characteristics of their personality.
*Be sure to use specific examples from the film/show (see example project below for details)*
Step 4: Using another theory, list an alternative explanation for one of the character’s behaviors/thoughts from your answer to #2 and how this theory might explain this situation differently.
There are no sources needed, but there has to be examples from the powerpoint of the chosen topic.
