Consider the following scenario:
John and Kate have been in a relationship for several years. Both feel like they have put so much in to their relationship (time, money, they live together and have bought things together) but their relationship is failing.
Both people feel like for all they do for the other person they are not getting enough out, and in reality they are not liking each other much anymore. They never share stories or laughs together, they are never romantically intimate, and both wonder what life would be without one another or with someone else.
Use one of the theories addressed this week, explain this relationship. How could you encourage John and Kate to achieve relationship satisfaction, using that same theory?
