Introduction– Introduce and give a general overview of what you will be covering in the paper and how it relates to this course. Overview of Theories – Write a paragraph for each including the Key Concepts of each of the following Theories of Personality:
A. Psychoanalytic Concepts – Freud and Jung
B. Individual Psychology – Alfred Adler
C. Lifespan Theory – Erik Erikson D. Biological Aspects of Personality
E. Behaviorist and Learning theory – Skinner and Watson
F. Cognitive Aspects of Personality – Albert Bandura
G. Trait Theory – The Big Five
H. Humanistic Theory – Carl Rogers
3. Case Study
A. Biography of Celebrity – This could be an artist, writer, movie star, singer, etc. Write in your own words a summary of their life.
B. Theory – choose one of the above theories to explain your celebrity – You will analyze this person from one of the perspectives above. For example, analyze this person from Freudian perspective: Include childhood experiences. Does this person seem to be fixated at any stage?
C. Conclusions -What conclusions can you draw? You do not have to believe every part of your analysis, but it must reflect the facts of the individual’s life and the theory you are using. Include in first person your reflections.
Papers should conform to APA style, including citation of all sources used (biographical and personality theory). Please use the Purdue Owl website as a guide for the APA format. Be sure to cite in the paper every reference used.
Use your textbook, outside references, and class lectures and discussion to support your position. Students will include a minimum of 3 scholarly references. (7-10 pages for Essay Assignment)
