Purpose: By conceptualizing information in a self chosen, multimedia presentation format, students are expressing and exploring various aspects of their own identity through their chosen method of information delivery. Students are able to strengthen their understanding of identity formation and the four statuses of Identity Development in this way as they are putting the core tenants of identity development into practice with their presentation format. Erickson asserts that the primary psychosocial developmental milestone in adolescence is to identify and attain one’s Identity. While many definitions for Identity exist, the construct of identity, for Erickson and his contemporaries, includes establishing who you are, what you value, and the general direction of your life’s pursuits. Erickson outlines two key criteria to help determine where each person is on the critical journey toward Identity. These two key criteria are exploration and commitment. When combined, these primary criteria yield four distinct Identity Statuses: Identity Achievement, Identity Moratorium, Identity Foreclosure, and Identity Diffusion. An individual may achieve various statuses along their path toward identity and, indeed, may have different statuses in the various Identity Domains of their lives (i.e. vocation, political affiliation, religious views, etc.) Part 1- Create: A multimedia project that explores Identity development and addresses at least one of the Identity Statuses and one Identity domain. Choose from one of the following multimedia formats:
Song: Instrumental, vocalised, spoken word, etc., poem, short story Fine art piece: painting, drawing, sculpture, collage, etc.,

Script for a play or movie Short dance
Other (If you choose “other”, it must be expressible and an appropriate medium that will allow you to “present” it as a way of submittal.) Part 2- Explanation: Include an audio/video or written explanation about why your project represents Identity, an Identity Status, and an Identity domain, for you. The explanation is in addition to the above project specs.
