Purpose
This assignment will have two main aims:
1.help me see how you connect ideas and concepts that we have discussed over the semester. Hopefully by reviewing a student’s work from another group you can see how your ideas align and differ.
2. encourage you to apply the social ecological model to a topic of your choosing
Task
1. Review another student’s portfolios from the Construct a Portfolio and then Select Another Student’s Portfolio .
2. Write a 5 page paper (double spaced, 12 point font, one inch margins) that has two parts:
First, the paper should compare and contrast the artifacts from the portfolio you reviewed, identifying similarities and differences with respect to the impact of development, family, culture, and environment on the chronic disease. In connection to this part of the final paper, please share at least three key things you have learned from the lens of the social ecological model about your chronic condition these semester. (approximately 2 pages)
Second, the paper should apply the different layers of the social ecological model we considered all semester to the chronic condition or illness you choose. Review the information on the layers of the social ecological model (individual/development; bias; family; culture; social and physical environment & upstream medicine/social justice) as a lens to better understand this condition/illness. Please address all of the layers in this part of your final paper. (approximately 3 pages)
