Critique the role and application of learning effectiveness and resilient healthcare concepts in
governing for quality and safety.
The resilience of a healthcare system has been defined as “its capacity to absorb, adapt and transform when
exposed to a shock such as a pandemic, natural disaster, armed conflict or a financial crisis and still retain
the same control over its structure and functions” (Blanchet, Nam, Ramalingam & Pozo-Martin, 2017, p. 431)
Drawing on your experience and a visual stimulus (e.g. photo, image), critically reflect on the learning that
can be gleaned about governing for quality and safety from the resilience of your national health system (or
the organizational – level system in which you work) following exposure to a shock. Answers should be
written using a structured reflective model.
