After reading about how the definition of women’s health has evolved over time, review the following definition of women’s health as presented at the “Fourth World Conference on Women in Beijing, 1995. Explain if the definition is consistent with the realities of women’s health today, e.g., has anything changed for women or is still the same?
Health Definition presented at Conference in Beijing, 1995:
“Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity; women’s health involves their emotional, social and physical well-being and is determined by the social, political and economic context of their lives, as well as by biology”.
