Please choose one of the literary authors on our list (Carl Rogers), and read another short work by that writer/poet. Choose another
short story (other than the one discussed in class). After reading that work find a link between that work and the topic for that week.
For example, we read and discussed Oates’ “Where are you going” in the context of the adaptive unconscious. You might wish to read another story by Oates and address it in terms of the unconscious or the adaptive unconscious as we understand them in our readings
on “Blink” (134) or Maslow’s “The Farther Reaches of Human Nature” (218). Ideally, you will also read at least a chapter from the
psychologist’s primary source, e.g. Maslow’s The Farther Reaches of Human Nature, 1971 — available in the online Mercy Library.

Please use a minimum of three scholarly sources – that is, literary/cultural critics and commentators — beyond Wikipedia and dictionaries — and one primary psychology source. Please be sure to cite accurately and fully when you are paraphrasing, quoting, or referring to the works of others, so that you avoid plagiarism. Please include a Works Cited page. All documentation is required to be in the MLA form. All papers will be submitted to Turnitin.
