The role of the clinical nurse educator is both rewarding and as well challenging. A successful transition from clinical bedside practice to a nurse educator role requires effective strategies and competencies to facilitate the transition process (Laari, et al., 2021). Nevertheless, the most salient goal of every clinical nurse educator is to become exemplary and an ardent teacher to advise and assume a mentorship role for students, utilize clinical bedside practice experience as a tool, read current literature, and have the aptness to develop faculty programs. Furthermore, an Academic nurse educator must be highly competent to conduct evidence-based research, write a grant proposal, and ensure that their clinical skills are up to the minute in conjunction with the fast-paced nursing profession of our modern time (Satoh, et al., 2020). A judicious clinical nurse educator with an array of competencies will contribute to the cultivation of highly professional nurses to provide safe and effective nursing care to bridge the health disparity gap to attain sustainable health outcomes. As a clinical educator in the emergency department (ED), I have always exhibited empathy, good communication skills, fair judgment, and adept at evaluating students, peers, and staff learning needs and using observations to implement optimal teaching strategies for the betterment of all.
As a clinical nurse educator, I intend to utilize the holistic patient care approach to promote family and caretaker engagement in patient care management. This will ensure effective patient teaching to foster medication and care consent to facilitate positive health outcomes. I will strategize the incorporation of a patient feedback tool to help prevent medication errors and misreported pre-existing health concerns to optimize patient safety. The quality of our modern health care is to provide safe, prompt, effective, efficient, fair, diverse cultural, and patient-centered care to effectuate sustainable health outcomes (Charosaei, et al., 2021).
