You are the director of the Information Technology Department. You did not request this information but received genetic documentation from one of your employees. It is clear based on the report that this employee has a pancreatic cancer gene and the probability of developing cancer is significant.
While you clearly know and understand that you cannot act on this information based on GINA protections for the employee;
Address the ethical, legal, and social issues which may arise due to your knowledge of this information.
Be sure to address the social impact between the employee and employer now that this information has been disclosed to you; although there was no malicious intent.
