Specifically considering Latino and multiracial clients as a systematically oriented family therapist, how would you help the family to address patterns within their family functioning that may be underlying the problems they are reporting in therapy? For example, how would you handle a discrepancy between family members with different levels of acculturation regarding gender roles in relationships/ and or westernized way of being? How would you ensure your own assumptions and bias of relational and family functioning do not lead your interventions in a direction that is not culturally sensitive to the client’s preferred way of being and living?
