Reflect on your philosophy of nursing practice that you have been developing or revising in Weeks 1 and 2.
-My philosophy in nursing is to treat your patient’s condition without bias. When we do this we are living out our mission as a health care professional. An example of mine would include a patient who may have some form of substance addiction that may test your patience, bring on frustration to where one may consider treating them different because of the habit they have formed. However, one who is understanding of the illness would know that addiction is just as much as an illness as any other disorder. Or as a prescribing practitioner, your preference of medicine to prescribe a patient may not fall in line with what the patient may prefer because of a potential side effect, (i.e., weight gain). This patient may request a more weight neutral medicine because they are concerned with their appearance.
Review the middle range nursing theories that you have applied to your philosophy of nursing practice and make any necessary refinements in your thinking and explanations.
Consider how the interdisciplinary theory you researched for the Week 3 Discussion post, or other theories presented by colleagues, can further inform your philosophy of nursing practice.
