The hot topic selected is workplace safety and well-being in Encompass Healthcare. Encompass Healthcare was founded in 1984 where it was operating as Amcare Inc. The first facility was opened in Little Rock, and the second one was in Alabama. The organization provides integrated healthcare services delivering home-based and facility-based care to the patients. The organization needs to enhance workplace safety via its Healthcare Safety Collaborative to identify, develop, and implement risk-reduction approaches. The target audience will be employees and management staff in Encompass Healthcare. The employees and the management staff play several responsibilities in the general safety and well-being of the patients (Sinsky et al., 2020). The members also provide help with physical needs and advice to the patients. I will educate the members on enhancing safety and well-being in the organization for an improved quality service delivery. I will guide the members in leadership positions on having systematic communication with their workmates to ensure staff and patient’s safety and well-being.
The organization should strengthen its safety and well-being policies to ensure employees work in a safe and healthy environment. Safety and well-being policies are vital in every healthcare organization since they protect against health and safety violations that can harm workers, cost healthcare facility money, and damage their reputation (Carayon, Cassel & Dzau, 2019). The policy should identify the standards to be achieved and the means of achieving and monitoring the standards. Employees have a vital role in ensuring they protect their health, safety, well-being, and patients. I would encourage the management team to create a culture of safety and well-being in the Healthcare by effectively training the employees. Encompass Healthcare should introduce the organization’s intranet to make it easier for members to access. The organization should have a safety statement specifying how the safety and well-being of employees and patients will be secured and managed.
