The purpose of this course project is to give you an opportunity to analyze the benefits provided by a healthcare organization. Contact the human resources department of a local hospital or healthcare facility, and ask the following questions:
How many total employees are in the department, and how many are assigned to handle benefits administration? How many of the staff are certified employee benefits specialists?
How are benefits communicated to employees at this hospital?
What benefits are offered to full-time, part-time, and hourly employees?
Do physicians receive the same benefits as other employees?
What prerequisites (perks) are offered to executives?
Are there any benefits that the organization is considering but not currently offering? If yes, what are they and how were they identified? If no, what benefits may be added if the organization can afford to do so?
Begin this project by visiting the website (or the human resources Web page) of the organization to see how much benefits information is posted online. After contacting the department, write a two to three page summary of what was found based on the aforementioned questions. In writing the summary, assess how comprehensive the benefits package is for employees and how well it communicated.
