View the film, “Still Alice”. After viewing the film, write a 3-4 page essay including the following:
Analyze the response that one of the characters has to Alice’s illness. This can be Alice herself or one of the other characters. What is the response? Is this helpful to Alice or does it increase barriers for her? If Alice had been in her 80’s rather than her 50’s, in what ways do you think the character’s response would be different? In what ways the same?
Alice’s roles as a wife, mother, teacher and scholar change throughout the book. Ultimately, her choice is to spend her remaining time with her family and books. How does each of her roles change as a result of her illness? Which ultimately is the most important to her and why?
Alice’s illness ultimately takes her through most, if not all, of Erikson’s stages of psychosocial development. Discuss her development in the framework of one of the stages.
Your paper should follow a standard five paragraph essay format. It should have an introduction, 3 body paragraphs (one for each of the above questions) and a concluding paragraph. The paper must be a minimum of 3 pages, double spaced 12 point font and a maximum of 4 pages. You may include quotes to illustrate your statements, but do not “string” quotes one after another. You should make a point, give the quote that illustrates it, then analyze the importance of the quote, if you do decide to use quotes. You may not use references other than the film and your text, so no references page is needed. Please use APA format.
