The author of chapter 17 states that the nursing curriculum needs to exhibit a more multicultural focus. In order to achieve the goal of becoming more multicultural, the author suggests that first nursing faculty needs to develop cultural knowledge, cultural sensitivity, and skills, and then faculty need to become culturally competent.
First – Discuss the differences and/or similarities between cultural knowledge and cultural competence.
Second – Discuss the changes needed to develop an inclusive learning environment within nursing education. Remember to include barriers to change and promoters to change in your answer and one way you plan to incorporate these concepts when teaching patients with diverse backgrounds in your APRN role?
